Fulton’s take first victory; Indians battle Moberly at home Friday
The opening night of high school football season is always tough with tensions high and each team wanting to start the year with a win. Last Friday’s game at Fulton was even more stressful with an excessive heat warning pushing the game start time back one hour to make everyone’s timing off.
Eldon lost their season opener against Class 4 Miller Career Academy Friday in a 48-42 slugfest at Victor Field in Eldon.
Senior Kullen Carlock put the Lakers on the board first in the Camdenton home opener against Hillcrest last week, with a first quarter 57-yard run at the end of the first quarter.
The Camdenton Lady Lakers Soccer team split their games at the recently held Class 3 District tournament in Lebanon with an opening 3-2 win over Waynesville and a 3-2 loss to Jefferson City in the final.
Camdenton baseball spent mid May in Class 5 District 9 action in Jefferson City and it was quite a week as the Lakers took it to the wire, knocking out Jefferson City and Helias before falling to Rock Bridge in the championship round.
The Osage Indians finally got in a game Friday despite having to move the venue from Macks Creek to Osage. The heavy rains had made the change of venue necessary and the Indians took advantage of home-field advantage to claim a 6-5 win over the Pirates.
The Lady Indians soccer took their perfect record on the road last weekend to compete in the Branson Tournament and brought home a second place title for the effort.
Osage tennis team traveled to Waynesville over the weekend to claim a first place trophy in the Waynesville Tournament.
Threatening weather put a stop to high school sports activities for most of the week but the Lakers were able to get four games anyway, adding three losses and a win to keep on pace for a 50/50 season.
