Osage's Hensley earns All-Tournament honor in Stover

The Eldon Mustangs took it all at the Stover Tournament last week, with both the boys and girls teams claiming a championship when the dust had settled.

The Lady Mustangs took charge with a 58-38 win over Holden in the first round and followed with 90-40 domination over the Versailles Tigers for a round two victory and a shot at the trophy.

Friday night's matchup put the No. 1 ranked Lady Mustangs against the No. 2 Laquey ladies for a 57-47 duke-out for the gold.

Sara Rhine led the Mustangs with 21 points followed by Ashley Hogan with 14 and Jordyn Schmidt with 12.

Rhine was honored as Tournament MVP, while teammates Hogan and Schmidt also made the All-Tournament team list.

The Mustang boys took it all with a 67-62 win over Cole Camp on Saturday. Their road was paved by a 60-33 opening round victory over the Stover Bulldogs and a 70-58 win over Holden in the second round.

Blake Randall led the Mustangs with 20 points with Zac Shreve adding 14. Josh Jones and Chris Hulsey each chipped in for 10 points a piece.

Chris Hulsey and Joseph Limbach made the All-Tournament team for the Mustangs, while Cole Camp's Tanner Oelrichs was named Tournament MVP.

Osage didn't fare as well in the brackets, with the both boys and girls dropping the first round games to Cole Camp.

The boys fell 74-51 and the ladies also took a 44-32 loss from the Bluebirds.

The second round was more of the same for the Lady Indians, taking a 44-36 loss to the Stover Bulldogs. The ladies took on Holden for a seventh place game and claimed a 38-36 win as a result.

Daisy Ralston and Isabel Morris both chipped in for 10 points each for the victory.

On the boys' side, tournament host Stover fell 54-40 to the Indians in round two and the Osage boys advanced to face Versailles for third place.

The Indians were dominated by the Tigers, falling 65-24. Osage's Wyatt Whitman led scoring with seven points.

Tristan Hensley was the only Indian to make the All-Tournament team for Osage.

Osage (2-6) hosted Buffalo on Tuesday for a non-conference game and will travel to Hallsville for their court warming game on Friday. Osage's Court warming game is scheduled for the Jan. 18 match against Eugene.

The Lady Indians traveled to Hallsville on Monday and will host Buffalo on Thursday. Their next home game is on Jan. 21 against Eugene.

The Eldon Mustangs boys will take on Moberly at the Smith-Cotton Tournament on Thursday. The tournament will run through Saturday and games will be determined based on wins and losses through the bracket. They will travel to Warsaw on Jan. 15 for their next regular season match.

The Lady Mustangs are at Tuscumbia on Saturday for a tournament match at 9 a.m. and will host California on Jan. 15 with tipoff at 6 p.m.
