After a successful 2012 season, the Ozark Jazz Society has already scheduled its first two events for 2013, inviting existing members, new members and the community to enjoy two great musical activities.
On Sunday, Jan. 27, the community is invited to the hear the OHS Jazz Band play at Ozark Jazz Society's concert and dance at the Country Club Hotel & Spa in Lake Ozark. After a delectable buffet, guests can hear jazz standards and contemporary pieces such as "In the Mood," "Moondance," "Chameleon," "Honk" and "What is this thing called Love" from the OHS Jazz Band and Lake Jazz Band. School of the Osage High School Jazz Band Director Jeff Kile said previously told The Lake Today he enjoys teaming up with the Ozark Jazz Society because not only do the members and guests appreciate the students' labors, but, the students can see there are other opportunities for them to continue their musical endeavors outside of high school and college.
The event will kick off with a grand buffet from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Palazzo Ballroom at the Country Club Hotel and Spa. The buffet includes mixed greens with assorted dressing, smothered boneless chicken breast, sliced tender roast, sirloin bordelaise, baked potato bar (includes baked potatoes, butter, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, bacon and scallions), vegetable du jour, dinner rolls and butter, and assorted dessert selections.
The School of the Osage Jazz Band will perform from 6-6:45 p.m., and the Lake Jazz Band will perform and encourage dancing from 7-9:30 p.m. A cash bar, will also be available throughout the event.
Admission is $20, which includes buffet, tax gratuity, concerts and dance.
Reservations are required, so call Connie to reserve your ticket at 573-964-2206.
Then in February, the Ozark Jazz Society teams up with the Lake Arts Council to present a Jazz Brunch on Feb. 10 at Osage National Golf Resort.
A special breakfast and lunch will be served as audiences enjoy a variety of music by the special jazz musician guests.
