The Eldon Baseball Mustangs started their season on March 16 with an 11-2 loss on the road against the Clinton.
Down 7-0 after just three innings, Coach Brock Silvers pulled starting pitcher Joseph Limbach and brought in reliever Dustin Headrick.
The Mustangs picked up their first run in the top of the fourth off a Mason Farris sacrifice fly that scored John Hall from third base.
Patrick Souders hit a single that scored Brad Dinwiddie for the only other Mustang score. Clinton added another four runs in the sixth inning to seal the win.
Limbach pitched 3 innings and gave up seven hits and seven runs. Headrick took the mound for two innings, allowing no hits and walking one batter. Skylar Yakich came in for the sixth and final inning, giving up four runs on three hits with a strikeout and a walk.
The Mustangs won their home opener on March 19, defeating the Camdenton Lakers 7-0.
Ryan Kliethermes took the mound for Eldon and gave a solid six innings allowing only three hits and no runs. He struck out two and walked four.
Eldon got on the board in the first inning with the help of two walks and three hit batters. Andrew Kempker hit an RBI ground out and John Hall stole home with the bases loaded, giving the Mustangs a 3-0 lead.
In the fourth, the Mustangs added another three runs courtesy of Brad Dinwiddie. Dinwiddie hit a two-out two-on shot into center field, scoring two. When Kempker took first on an error by Camdenton's first baseman, Dinwiddie took advantage and scored, putting Eldon up 6-0.
Headrick took over in the final frame, walking two and striking out two before ending the game.
Eldon's scheduled game against Cole Camp was cancelled due to rain and the Friday Blair Oaks matchup was postponed.
