Deck the Docks still celebrating cruises, raises funds for Dogwood Animal Shelter

December 12th, 2012 in News

Dock Realty in conjunction with 1150 KRMS/93.5 ROCKS is excited to announce that this year's Second Annual "Dock Realty's Deck the Docks" cruises to benefit the Dogwood Animal Shelter are planned. Dogwood animal shelter is a non-profit, "no-kill" refuge for the homeless domesticated animals in the Lake of the Ozarks area. The shelter houses more than 200 furry friends that are waiting for that loving family to adopt them.

Last year $6,500 dollars was raised for this much needed, charitable organization. The goal is to double that amount this year. Community participation is crucial to meet the goal and make this another successful year. Again this year Lakeside condo owners, business owners and homeowner's are being encouraged to take their holiday lighting one step further and decorate their Lakeside homes, docks, balconies and businesses. The more lighting display's to see, the more exciting the family friendly cruises will be!

This year's cruises aboard the Celebration will begin the day after Thanksgiving and run through New Year's. Unlike last year with two back-to-back cruises on Friday night, this year there is a cruise every Friday and Saturday night through Dec. 29 to accommodate those who are traveling from outside the Lake Area. Another change to this year's event, due to feedback heard from attendee's last year, the cruises will be departing from Shorty Pants so no standing out in the cold waiting to board. Everyone involved has worked very hard to make this bigger and better than last year. Rumor has it that even Santa is going to accompany us on the cruises, to hear all the children's wish lists, too.

Just like last year, this event is depending on our community to be involved. It can't be stressed enough that everyone is counting on residents and business owners between the MM 13 and MM 21, to "light up the Lakeside." There were about 40 light displays last year and this year everyone is hoping to have twice as many. Please encourage friends, neighbors and colleagues to join in the action and help light up the Lake. Even if you are not located Lakeside in the cruise area, support the shelter by just picking a cruise night and attend one of the cruises. For tickets sales, contact the Celebration at 573-302-0023.

Dock Realty is accepting donations that will go 100 percent to the shelter. Contact Julz at Dock Realty to simply make a monetary donation to the shelter to show your support by emailing or calling 573-374-8849. Additional information can be found at
