When residents and visitors are out and about starting their holiday shopping this weekend, there are some opportunities to get the outdoorsman or woman in their life a special gift.

Over the last few weeks, Bill Cassidy, Osage Beach Bait & Tackle owner, has shared some fun gift ideas for every member of the family who loves fishing Lake of the Ozarks.

Having seen present ideas for the man in the family and a young child, women may want a fishing-related gift under the tree, as well. Cassidy suggests looking to a fun fishing tool that Mom or Grandma can use anytime of the year at Lake of the Ozarks.

The Master Mity Might rod and reel looks like a miniature fishing rod, being only 24 inches in total rod length. However, Cassidy says, as does the item's name suggests, don't be deceived by this little rod's power and precision.

"This rod is designed for a man or woman to use around and on docks. It allows you to set your hook without knocking your rod on a dock roof or side posts," he explained. "This is a perfect for catching bluegill and crappie, as well. In fact, a fishing friend of mine recently caught a 22-pound flathead using a crappie jig on one of these rods. They are strong, lightweight and very durable."

Next week, one additional gift for another relative at the holidays remains.

Cassidy also said if anyone would like to call in with questions regarding outdoors, hunting or fishing during his Saturday morning radio show, "Outdoors in the Ozarks," from 9 a.m. to noon on 1150 AM or 97.5 FM, call 573-302-7000.
