The 82nd Annual Eldon Tournament took place this past weekend and for the first time, it wasn’t just about the boys.

The Eldon Lady Mustangs (16-3) opened the tourney by knocking out Knob Noster by a score of 56-39 to set them up to face Russellville (9-10) on Friday.

Led by Sara Rhine, the Lady Mustangs took out the Russellville Lady Indians 61-42 and were set up to face the Marquette Mustangs (11-5) for the Championship round.

The two teams duked it out and they went into the half with a 30-30 tie. Both teams played it out but it was Eldon that would claim the win as they closed out the game by scoring the final six points for a 55-49 win.

On the boys’ side, the Mustangs (8-8) didn’t fare as well.

Eldon lost three in a row, falling first to O’Fallon Christian on Thursday by a score of 70-56. Friday’s matchup against Fox ended up with a 44-37 loss and Saturday’s match up against Sedalia left the Mustangs with a 54-46 loss and last place in the tournament.

The Eldon boys will play again on Friday for their court warming match against Northwest Academy.

The Lady Mustangs will take part in the Crocker Tournament this week.
