Editor’s Note: “Around the Lake” allows the Lake Area’s five chambers of commerce directors, Convention and Visitors Bureau director and Tri-County Lodging Association director to share upcoming event information, local issues and fun topics with The Lake Today’s readers. Make sure to check out the “Around the Lake” column to find out all about what’s happening at the Lake from the area’s top people “in the know.”
The Lake of the Ozarks Convention & Visitor Bureau (CVB) is excited to present to you our 2013 Vacation & Service Guide and Lake Life publications. We would like to extend a sincere “thank you” to all the CVB members that advertise in the publications and to the board and staff of Tri County Lodging Association (TCLA) for the various promotional and advertising efforts that make Lake of the Ozarks the premier vacation destination in the Midwest. With a combined circulation of 210,000 these guides, along with the www.funlake.com website, are the main fulfillment tools used to inform potential visitors and convert them into actual visitors.
We are already “On the Road” with our Vacation & Service Guide traveling to 12 boat, sport and travel shows throughout a five-state area. The year started with the 36th Annual St. Louis RV Vacation & Travel Show and the 59th Annual Kansas City Boat & Sports Show. The following weekend there was the Mid-America RV Show in Kansas City and the St. Joseph Sport & Gun Show. This weekend we will attend the Lake of the Ozarks Marine Dealers Association Overland Park Boat Show and next weekend the St. Louis Boat & Sportshow. Valentine’s Day weekend we will attend the 45th Annual Chicago RV & Camping Show in Rosemont, Ill. and the 59th Annual Kansas Sport, Boat & Travel Show in Wichita, Kan. The weekend of Feb. 21-24 we will be at the 51st Annual Omaha Boat Sport & Travel Show. The following weekend we are at the Central Illinois Recreation Show in Peoria and the 24th Annual Springfield RV Mega Show in Springfield, Mo. We finish the show schedule the weekend of March 22-24 at the Springfield RV & Camping Show in Springfield, Ill.
In addition, the CVB office mails the Vacation & Service Guide to potential visitors, second homeowners and people relocating to the Lake requesting information about the Lake. Our publication is also distributed at the five local Chamber of Commerce locations, Missouri Visitor Centers throughout the state, AAA offices in seven states, as well as travel agents in twenty four states. The publication is distributed through our members’ locations in the Lake Area reaching locals and visitors.
Our Lake Life publication is the only publication distributed to every lodging property in the surrounding area. The publication is also distributed to convention groups that request information about the Lake for their welcome packets.
In May 2013 the CVB will also have available the very popular Restaurant Guide, with 60,000 copies being distributed throughout the entire Lake area and to convention delegates staying at one of our area hotels or resorts.
All of the CVB publications including the Vacation & Service Guide and Lake Life publications can be obtained by stopping by our office at 5815 Osage Beach Parkway, calling our office at 573-348-1599 or 1-800-FUN-LAKE, or requesting the guide on line at www.funlake.com.
