A new Osage High School Courtwarming Queen and King will be crowned on Friday Jan. 18, between the boys junior varsity and varsity basketball games against Eugene.
Four senior girls and four senior boys are vying for the title of king and queen.
The Courtwarming queen candidates are Kelsey Jackson, daughter of Bruce and Sherry Jackson; Breanna Lindner, daughter of Thomas and Veronica Lindner; Giulia Notari, daughter of Alberto Notari and Paola Rago and Mike and Luanne Ruck is her foreign exchange family; and Brittany Witt, daughter of Brian and Helen Witt.
The king candidates are Jon Colgan, son of Michael and Karen Colgan; Kristian Hess, son of James and Heidi Adams; Matt Lehenbauer, son of Rev. Ron and Elaine Lehenbauer and Brian Urwiler, son of Thomas and Deborah Urwiler.
Representing the junior class are Becca Henley and Lucas Ferrell. Becca is the daughter of Mike and Tina Henley, and Lucas is the son of Danielle Ferrell and grandson of Debbie Ferrelll and Dan Jones.
Sophomore representatives are Cassidy Culver and Skylar Slack. Cassidy is the daughter of Douglas Culver and Beth Morgan, and Skyler is the son of Tony and Renee Slack.
Freshmen representatives are Skylar Webb and Hayden Drace. Skylar is the daughter of Ron and Sharon Webb, and Hayden is the son of Jason and Laura Drace.
These students were selected by their peers as contributing the most to their school and honored as models of each class.
Two first-graders who take part in the Courtwarming night festivities are crown bearer, Charlie Dulle and flower girl, Bailey Luttrell. Charlie is the son of Patrick and Kimberly Dulle, and Bailey is the daughter of Rick and Christi Luttrell.
The coronation will be the climax of a week's worth of activities at the high school, as students and staff, celebrate the theme "Once Upon A Time.” As always “Spirit Week” is sponsored by the Student Council.
Monday, Jan. 14, was “College Day” with students sporting gear from their favorite college or university. Tuesday, Jan. 15, was “Get Your Crown On Day” with students wearing a crown or hat and making a donation to the Caps for Kids program.
Today, Wednesday, Jan. 16, is “Favorite Fairytale Character Day” with students dressing as characters from their favorite fairytale. Activity Night is scheduled for tonight from 8-9:30 pm in the gymnasium.
Thursday students will decorate the individual hallways according to the followoing themes; Freshman: Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (white and red); Sophomores: Little Mermaid (blue and green); Juniors: 101 Dalmatians (black and white); and seniors: Aladdin (blue and gold). Students may also dress as a character from one of these stories.
Finally, Friday is “Maroon and White Day” with maroon and white clothing being highlighted by the student body.
Following Friday's games and coronation ceremonies, a dance will take place in the high school commons area until 11:30 p.m. Tickets are available in advance for $3 or for $5 at the door.
