With a 2013 event date of Sept. 21, the Lake of the Ozarks Air Show committee hopes to add rides aboard a P-51 Mustang, which is a World War II U.S. fighter aircraft, if six rides can be sold.

The Lake of the Ozarks Air Show is in the planning process of the 2013 Air Show. The event is currently scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Camdenton Memorial Airport/Lake Aviation Center in Camdenton with a rain date of Sunday, Sept. 22 at the same location.

The air show will see a salute to our military and the return of the B-25 Bomber, Team Vortex Air Show, the Ping Pong Ball Drop, KC Flight Formation Team and new acts to be announced soon, according to the event’s website.

The Air Show committee has an opportunity to secure a P-51 Mustang, which is a World War II U.S. fighter aircraft, performance if six rides can be sold. The ride is approximately a 30 minutes over the Lake where the full performance of the P-51 can be experienced. This is a once in a life time opportunity that will be rare at the Lake of the Ozarks, the committee members stated in a press release.

The ride will include many photo opportunities in and by the plane. The rides could be taken in the afternoon on Friday Sept. 20, on Saturday Sept. 21 in coordination with Air Show, or possibly Sunday, Sept. 22.

To bring this historic aircraft to The Lake and cover their cost they would like a commitment of seven rides. The Air Show funds would be willing to cover one for an auction. The Air Show committee needs to get commitments on six rides and a signed contract by March 15 to book this historic aircraft. In an effort to keep the Air Show free, the Air Show committee is relying on its sponsors to also help fund the event.

The rides are selling for $1,650 apiece. There are no guarantees this aircraft will be available to the Lake of the Ozarks Air Show in the future. There are very few in the country restored and licensed to give rides. Money is fully refundable if weather or unknown circumstances prevent the aircraft from coming to the Lake of The Ozarks Air Show.

To book your ride, email or call the Camdenton Chamber of Commerce at 573-346-2227 or email info@camdentonchamber.com.
