Osage wrestlers earn first 2013 victory over Buffalo

The Osage Indians wrestlers started the New Year with a road victory over Buffalo, taking on the Bisons for a 54-29 win.

The Indians had seven pins in the match led by state-ranked sophomore Chris Johnson with a pin over his opponent in the first round. Johnson is currently holds the No. 8 ranking in the 120 weight class according to the Jan. 4 poll. His wrestled up a class for the Buffalo meet, winning in the 126 class over Anthony Obernuefemann at just over a minute into the match.

Kyle Carroll (113 pounds), Zach Curran (120 pounds), Greg Crosby (145 pounds) and Alex Weatherspoon (285 pounds) also took a first round pin victory over their opponents. Aidan Williams (182 pounds) claimed a pin over Michael Hedrick in the second round.

Osage continues their long road stand this week by traveling to Tipton on Tuesday and Versailles on Thursday. They will be participating in the Warsaw varsity tournament on Saturday.

The boys will be at home on Thursday, Jan. 17 for one of only four home matches when they host Fatima for a JV/varsity contest.
