The first-ever Run for the Children Half-Marathon is scheduled for April 27, 2013 starting at the Eldon Community Center in Eldon.
Raising funds and supporting the Miller County Child Advocacy Council, the Run for the Children will consist of a 13.1 mile-course that winds through the city streets of Eldon. A mostly-flat route, the course does have one large hill around the 7.5 mile marker. The half-marathon will have a four-hour time limit.
There will be an awards ceremony following the race at the pocket park located near to the finish line on Maple Street. All finishers will receive an event medal. Plaques will be given to the top male and female finisher, plus special medals will be given to the top three winners in each age group including 16-20, 21-30, 31-40, 51-60 and 61 and over.
Registration forms are available online at www.eldonchamber.com. Participants must be 16 years old to enter. Entry fee is $45 before Dec. 31, $50 from Jan. 1-March 30 and $60 from April 1-April 26. Registration closes at 5 p.m. April 25.
Event tech T-shirts will be given to all runners, and free food and beverages will be available at the finish line. All aid stations will have water and Gatorade.
