School of the Osage and Eldon basketball teams are both participating in the Stover Tournament this week, with the opening games having taken place on Saturday.
The No. 3 seed Osage girls opened with a first round loss to No. 6 Cole Camp by a score of 44-32, sending them to a round two matchup on Wednesday against No. 2 Laquey at 6 p.m.
Taylor Davidson led the Indians with 10 points followed by Briana Jordan with eight and Monica Cisar with five. Daisy Ralston added four points, Cassidy Culver had three and Kenzie Depee chipped in for two.
Round three is Friday for the Lady Indians. A win over Laquey puts them at the 6 p.m. slot and a loss will put them in the 4:30 game.
The No. 1 seed Eldon Lady Mustangs opened with a win over No. 8 Holden by a score of 58-38. They will play at 7:30 p.m. tonight for a round two game against No. 4 Versailles. The final game will be Friday night, with a win over Versailles putting them in the championship game at 9 p.m. A loss to Versailles will put the Lady Mustangs in the 7:30 p.m. game.
In boys action, the Indians faced Cole Camp at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Osage came away with a round one loss to the Bluebirds by a score of 74-51.
Osage will face Stover at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for the second round. A win will put them in a fifth place playoff at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The Eldon Mustangs beat Stover in round one under the helm of their new coach, Nick Voss. Voss took the reins after last week’s resignation of former head coach Jimmy Lincoln. This is Eldon’s first game and first win under new leadership.
The 60-33 victory advances the Mustangs to the 8pm Thursday semifinal game. They will play again on Saturday at either 5:30 p.m. (loss) or 7 p.m. (win) based on a Thursday’s results.
The Osage Indians resume their regular season schedules on Tuesday, Jan. 8 with the boys hosting Buffalo and the Ladies on the road in the Richland Tournament.
