School of the Osage sent their boys and girls basketball teams to Cuba for the Class 3 District 9 tournament in Cuba.
The Lady Indians were first on deck with an opening round bout against number three seed Fatima on Feb. 18. Fifth seed Osage fell to the Lady Comets 54-41 to end their season.
The Lady Indians paced Fatima in the opening period, but Fatima closed defensive ranks to take a 28-18 lead into the half. The Lady Comets outscored Osage 11-9 in the third and held on to the lead until the end.
The Lady Indians finish with a 9-16 record. St. James took the title on Saturday by defeating Dixon by a score of 64-49.
The boys squad ended their season with a 75-59 loss to Dixon on Feb. 19. Osage entered the tournament with a 4-21 record and a fifth seed position.
The Indians stumbled at the outset, falling behind 28-15 after the first quarter. They got their game together in the next three quarters, but failed to overtake the Bulldogs. Osage paced Dixon in the second quarter but failed to slow down the Bulldog scoring and took a 44-30 deficit into the half.
The second half proved to be more of the same, with the Bulldogs sinking only two more points than the Indians, for the final 75-59.
Fatima took the title on Saturday with a 65-37 win over St. James.
