Camdenton High School Speech and Debate students had the chance to pit themselves against students from some of the top schools in the nation at the renowned Bob Bilyeu Speech and Debate tournament held Jan. 25-26 at Parkview High School and Central High School in Springfield. Forty schools competed in this year’s tournament, several of which are nationally ranked.

“All of our tournaments are tough, especially during the second semester, but if you can make it to final rounds at the varsity level at Liberty, Parkview, or Neosho, you are definitely considered a threat at the district and state level,” stated head coach Tom Martin.

The results of the tournament were as follows: Logan Gilbert, fourth place (Varsity Student Congress); Shelby Boze, quarter finalist (Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate); Alexis Lumley/Katie Chappell, semi-finalists (Duo Interpretation); and Lexi White, semi-finalist (Novice Dramatic Interpretation).
