Our Lake Today: Here comes the class of 2017

Meet three eighth graders who share their excitement for entering high school next year

Three months is all the time we have left. Three months until the class of 2017 will officially be considered the freshmen class of Camdenton High School.

Eighth grade students have been filling out pre-enrollment forms, choosing classes, studying for the big tests to come. Needless to say our students’ lives have been rather hectic.

Everyone is wondering what it will be like: Will I fit in? Will I get lost? Will I be able to keep my grades up? Although the thoughts have been running through our minds, eighth grade students at Camdenton Middle School are excited for what are known as, “The Best Years of Our Lives.”

This will be from the point of views of Lauren Fisher-Risner, Kelly Uthe and yours truly, Kylee Compton.

Kelly Uthe

“I’m excited for high school next year because we are going to a bigger and new building and softball is a sport at the high school. I am looking forward to Spanish next year because it’s fun learning a new language,” said Kelly. “Some opportunities for freshmen are the bigger variety of of classes. I see high school as a new building and the start of my future.”

Lauren Fisher-Risner

“I’m excited for high school next year. The classes I am most looking forward to is band because I will get to perform during the football games, I am also looking forward to choir and making new friends,” Lauren said. “A big opportunity for freshmen is that there is more freedom with your classes. I view high school as a great way to start off the rest of my future.”

Kylee Compton

“I am eager to start high school next year. I am a little nervous, but who isn't a little nervous? I am looking forward to taking harder classes and the arts program. I am also looking forward to the sports they have to offer,” Kylee said. “Some big opportunities for freshmen next year are not only the bigger varieties of classes, but also the different programs students can participate in next year, such as the Lake Career and Technical Center (LCTC). I see high school as what is going to be some of the most important years of my life.”

Students at Camdenton are ready for high school. With the new building and new classes; this is going to be a great way to start our high school lives. We will gain knowledge, friends, and memories that will last a lifetime. So lookout Camdenton High School because here comes the class of 2017.
