From off the turf to on the courts, these 17 hardworking boys trade in their cleats for sneaks. Football and basketball are two very different sports, but these boys had no problem turning tables. They have had a very successful 2012-13 basketball season.
During our first interview with Isaiah Lumley, Jackson Ezard and Jay Griffin, they were very enthusiastic about their accomplishments this season. With an impressive record of 9-7 these boys obviously worked hard and together. They’ve had some impressive wins this season, including Waynesville and Warsaw. Losing to Osage did nothing but provoke their inner fire, leading them to victory, with a final score of 32-29.
Another major achievement for this skillful group of youngsters, and probably their finest, was their win at the El Dorado Springs Tournament. The team remained undefeated even after the intense games. But with every great team comes a few weaknesses. However, this team knows how overlook them and come together and play as one.
Their A-team starters are Todd Simpson, Jay Griffin, Jackson Ezard and Isaiah Lumley, Conner Graves. The B-team starters are Seth Harris, Jesse Walker, Wes Bukner, Austin Carter and Matt Lawson.
“This year’s team was incredibly fun to coach. It was nice having so much speed and hustle on the team and each day these young men worked hard and really, what more could a coach ask for? I was very pleased to watch them get better as the season progressed,” said Coach J.D. Hunter.
This season overall was one of the best CMS has had in a while. And as the boys transition from rebounds and layups to sprints and hurdles, they will have no problem lighting up the track as they did on the court.
