Opera lectures kick off with Tosca on Nov. 12

Friends of the Morgan County Library are proud to present opera expert Roger Elliott discussing TOSCA in the first lecture of his 2012-2013 season. The program will feature a showing of a Metropolitan Opera performance of TOSCA.

One of the most beloved–and melodramatic – operas of the 19th century, Tosca is the story of a diva, her artist lover, a revolution, and, since it’s opera, several murders, some torture and suicides.

Written by Giacomo Puccini, the three act opera includes some of Puccini’s most famous arias.

The free program, which will last about two hours with an intermission, will begin at 7 p.m. in the community center of the Morgan County Library at the corner of Hwy. 52 and Hunter Road in Versailles.
