Tax credit reform is the topic of the Missouri School Boards Association's Fall Regional Meetings to be held throughout the state in October and November.
The Region 8 meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m. tonight at the Eldon R-I Middle School, which is located at 1400 N. Grand Ave. in Eldon.
Tax credit spending is out of control in Missouri, crowding out revenue that otherwise would be available to K-12 education and other purposes. Reasonable limits on tax credit spending would provide more state revenue without a tax increase.
School board members and administrators will learn more about this issue and discuss ways they can influence efforts to reform tax credits in our state during the regional meetings.
Tax credit reform will be a major legislative priority for the Missouri School Boards Association during the 2013 legislative session.
