Osage boys drop a pair

The Indians lost on the road on Feb. 7, dropping a game against Southern Boone 73-55.

Osage was down 23-11 after one period but rallied back before the half bucketing 20 points to SoBo’s 19. The third quarter was much like the first, with the Indians unable to convert and the Eagles outscored the Indians 19-8.

Dylan McNerney was the Indians’ highpoint man, with 21 on the night including four 3-pointers. Jared Edwards finished with 11 points. Mack Murray and Adam Hill both ended with six points, while Dylan Jeffries contributed five points. Tristan Hensley added four points to the total. Senior Zach Edwards left the game early due to an injury to his right eye. He was able to connect for two points before he got 11 stitches.

On Feb. 9, the boys were at home for a Varsity boys/girls doubleheader with the Hallsville Indians. Osage’s Indians fell 77-72 despite a career-high 23-point effort by senior Mack Murray.

The first quarter was a defensive struggle for Osage, allowing Hallsville to bucket 22 points but Murray was hot from the start hitting three 3-pointers and accounting for 11 of the Osage 18 points. Despite tying it up twice before the half, the Hallsville crew was up 42-36 at intermission.

A renewed Osage team hit the court for the second half, and they outscored Hallsville in the third and matched them point-for-point in the fourth, but the other Indians held on to the lead. With less than a minute on the clock, the Osage group was within one point at 68-69, but series of late game foul shots gave Hallsville the edge.

Murray’s 23 points led the Osage squad with Dylan McNerney adding 19 points to the total. Jared Edwards finished with 14 points and Adam Hill knocked down 11. Dylan Jeffries and Tristan Hensley added three and two points respectively.

Osage was back on the road Friday for a Tri-County matchup with Warsaw and once again came up short, finishing with a 54-51 loss after a tough battle.

The Osage Indians (7-15) will complete regular season play this week with a Valentine’s Day match last night (Tuesday) at Eldon. They are at home on Thursday for senior night and finish on the road at Blair Oaks on Friday.

The District 10 Tournament is Feb. 20-24 in Eldon. No. 5 seed Osage’s first matchup is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20. They will face No. 4 seed Boonville (10-11). The winner will advance to face No. 1 seed Helias at 6 p.m. Feb. 22. The Championship game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24.
