The Camdenton girls basketball team took on the Waynesville Tigers on Feb. 6 and pulled out all the stops to win 50-49 in overtime and securing their first Ozark Conference win.
The Lady Lakers started off slow, letting Waynesville score nine unanswered in the first quarter until Whitney Snow put up the first of three consecutive three-pointers to end the period 13-6 Waynesville.
Camdenton responded with a point-for-point run in the second and hit the lockers down by seven but with renewed spirit.
The second half kicked off with the Lakers outscoring the Tigers by eight in the third, but Waynesville battled back and tied it up at 42 with seconds left in the game.
With seconds left on the overtime clock, Waynesville was up by one point when Snow sunk a two-pointer and secured the Laker win.
Alison Carter finished with nine points for the Lady Lakers. With Cassie Hale adding eight, Courtney Foulk with six and Emily Collum contributing four.
The Lakers’ conference record stands 1-4 with two games left to play. Camdenton finishes the regular season at home this week with a Monday night match against Lebanon and a Thursday home game against Hillcrest. The Hillcrest matchup is senior recognition night for the Lady Lakers.
