Highway Patrol to host student alliance program

The Missouri Highway Patrol’s Troop F will conduct a Student Alliance Program beginning March 29 and concluding May 3.

The mission of the Student Alliance Program is to provide personal interaction between college students and high school juniors and seniors and the Highway Patrol. The program is designed for those possessing a strong interest in learning about the Patrol’s purpose and role within the law enforcement community.

The Highway Patrol is seeking 20 high school and/or college students who are willing to commit to a program offered by the Patrol that provides a unique opportunity.

The classes will meet on six Thursday evenings from 6:30-9 p.m., at Troop F Headquarters, 2920 North Shamrock Road, Jefferson City.

Successful completion of the program will require attendance at each Thursday evening session. One absence will be allowed with prior approval from the program coordinator.

The curriculum will familiarize participants with many Patrol policies and procedures utilizing teaching techniques similar to those experienced by troopers attending the Missouri Highway Patrol Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City. Many evenings will include activities and role-playing exercises that provide participants practical experience. The last session of the program will conclude with awards being presented to each successful participant.
