Last week the Mustangs (15-4) took a tough 62-54 loss to the Eugene Eagles in an overtime match on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Eldon kept it close in the first quarter until a seven-point run late in the period put the Mustangs at an eight-point deficit. They fired up and outscored Eugene 14-4 to enter the half with a 29-27 lead.
Both teams hit the court hard in the second half, but Eldon was clinging to a one-point advantage entering the final quarter. Six lead changes and three ties later the game ended with a 50-50 tie, sending the match into overtime.
Eugene scored a quick six points in OT to grab the lead and kept it through the end. John Hall led the Mustangs with 21 points. Ryan Kliethermes added 10 points while Zach Shreve finished with nine.
Eldon was on the road Tuesday evening at Blair Oaks for a conference matchup but will host California on Friday for their court warming game. They’ll travel to Hallsville on Saturday, and will host Osage for a Valentine’s Day contest.
