The Annual Troop Appreciation event returns to the Lake Area this year from 1:45-9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22.
This day is to honor our heroes with 200 free dinners served American soldiers and their families. It is for troops who are serving or have served in the last year, as well as their families and children. In addition, if a soldier is not at home, families are more than welcome to attend representing their hero.
Special guest Gen. (R) John Seward will be honored and given special recognition during this event, as well as Hero Awards given to special guests.
Aside from honoring troops, local fire and law enforcement officers and their families are also encouraged to attend and be equally honored for their heroic acts they do in the Lake Area community.
There will be a ride aboard the Celebration Cruise for the first 150 people at 1:45 p.m. Then, the 200 free dinners and additional activities will take place at Inn at the Grand Glaize, where the soldiers and families will also have some free rooms available. Doors will open at 6 p.m. to begin these activities.
In addition to the 200 free dinners for American troops, free gifts for children under 10 years old, awards, an appearance by Santa, clowns, live music and many other activities will be in store throughout the evening.
Meals, which are free the guests of honor and their families, include ham, chicken, potatoes, green beans, salad, bread, dessert, tea, lemonade and coffee. However, anyone can attend this event and help honor these local and national heroes.
