Eldon Lady Mustangs took two wins on the court last week

The Eldon Lady Mustangs had two games last week, and took wins from both to make their record so far 5-1 for the season.

They opened the week on the road at Fulton, overcoming a sluggish start to take a 66-53 victory over the Hornets.

The Hornets hit the courts hard and quickly jumped out in front, but the Lady Mustangs found their rhythm and ended the first quarter with a 16-12 lead and never looked back.

Sara Rhine was flawless, sinking 30 points for the Mustangs. Treva Hankey and Ashley Hogan followed with 10-point each. Jordyn Schmidt adding eight and Becca Lasson tacking on four. Sarah Evers and Logan Reed added two each.

Rhine was a force in the paint, grabbing 13 rebounds for the game and Hankey chipped in for 11 rebounds of her own.

The Ladies took on Father Tolton on Friday and claimed a 57-14 home court victory over the Lady Cardinals.

The Lady Mustangs will finish their 2012 portion of the season this week with a road game on Monday at Union and a home game on Thursday, taking on the Boonville Pirates. Thursday’s tip-off is at 6 p.m.

The Eldon Mustangs boys won both matches last week, claiming a 60-37 win over Fulton on Dec. 11 and a 64-41 over Tolton last Friday.

The boys will host Boonville on Friday with tipoff following the girls’ game at approximately 7:15 p.m.
