The Eldon Mustangs boys basketball team picked up a 53-33 road win Dec. 4 at Camdenton to take their record to an early 2-1 on the season.
The Mustangs matched the Lakers virtually point-for-point in the first half, taking a 27-24 lead into the break. They kept up the pressure to pull out the win, holding the struggling Camdenton squad to just nine points in the final two quarters.
Junior Sam Lincoln led the Mustangs with 17 points and Zach Shreve added 14 to the score.
Chris Hulsey followed with nine points, Josh Jones had five, Joseph Limbach added four, and Logan Shinn contributed two points. Senior Blake Randall rounded it out with one free throw.
Lincoln led the rebounding efforts of the Mustangs with a stunning 13 grabs.
The JV squad lost their round with the Lakers by a score of 51-25.
Eldon (2-2) faced off with Dixon on Friday and took a 60-66 overtime road loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. The JV squad won their bout, 57-28.
The JV Mustangs hosted the Fulton Hornets on Monday while the varsity boys were on the road to Fulton last night (Tuesday). Results were not available at press time.
Eldon will participate in the Fatima Tournament this week and will also face the Tolton Catholic Blazers for a JV road game on Thursday. The varsity squad will host Tolton on Friday, Dec. 14 with a 6 p.m. tip-off.
