School of the Osage High School recently announced candidates who were nominated for the 2011 Homecoming Court by fellow students. Osage’s Homecoming Queen will be crowned during halftime festivities at the Homecoming football game on Sept. 30 against California. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. “Can the Pintos” is the theme for this year’s Homecoming celebration.
The Homecoming Queen candidates are Kelsey Abbott, Tara Allman, Lindsay Daggett and Tiffany Urwiler. The junior homecoming representative is Vivian Mason. The sophomore representative is Hailey Cotton. The freshman representative is Taylor Davidson.
Abbott, daughter of Mike and Mary Abbott, is active or has been active in Student Council for four years and has held the position of Executive President; FCA for four years; Tribe for four years and has been on the Tribe Council for two years; French Club for four years and has held the position of treasurer; NHS for two years has held the position of secretary; TIES for three years; and Yearbook and holds the position of coeditor. In the community, she is a member of Riverview Baptist Church and is active in their youth group. Awards and honors she has received include: A Honor Roll for three years, attended Missouri Girls’ State and selected as a second team All-Conference member for soccer. After high school, Abbott plans to attend a four year college to become a Physical Therapist.
Allman, daughter of Larry and Marla Allman, is active or has been active in Tribe (freshman-senior year) and has held a position on the council; TIES (freshman-senior year) ; FCA (freshman-senior year) and has held a position as a FCA Leader; Ecology Club (freshman-senior year); Key Club (freshman-senior year); NHS (sophomore-senior year) and has held the position of vice president; Student Council and has held the position of executive vice president; Spanish Club (junior-senior year) and has held the position of an officer; Les Chanteurs (sophomore-senior year); Yearbook (junior-senior year) and holds the position of co-editor; Volleyball and holds the position of co-captain; basketball; and soccer. In the community, she is a member of River Baptist Church and is active in their youth group. Awards and honors she has received include: A Honor Roll, attended Mo. Girls’ State, varsity letter in volleyball, basketball and soccer. After high school, Allman plans to attend a four year college to pursue a degree in the medical field.
Daggett, daughter of Chandler and Tawny Daggett, is active or has been active in cheerleading for five years and has held the position of captain; Tribe; DECA; FBLA; Les Chantuers; and NHS. Awards and honors she has received include: All American Cheerleader in 2011; All–Star Dancer in 2008 and sophomore homecoming representative. After high school, Daggett plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in Business Administration.
Urwiler, daughter of Thomas and Deborah Urwiler, is active or has been active in Key Club (freshman senior year) and has held the position of secretary; NHS (sophomore-senior year) and has held the position of president; Tribe (freshman-senior year); FCA; Student Council (senior year) and has held the position of secretary; and softball team (freshman-senior year) and has held the position of captain. In the community, Urwiler is a member of Osage Hills Baptist Church in Osage Beach. Awards and honors she has received include: A Honor Roll (freshman-junior year), All District, All Conference, All Region Softball (freshman-junior year) and All State Academic Softball (junior year); All District Soccer (junior year); All Lake (freshman year) and All Conference Basketball (junior year); Lake Media’s Athlete of the Week; lettered every year for basketball, softball, choir and lettered junior year for soccer. After high school, Urwiler plans to attend a four year college and play softball.
Mason, daughter of Edward and Heather Mason, is active or has been active in dance squad; soccer; French Club; Tribe; Ecology Club; and TIES. In the community, she has been involved in shoreline clean- up. Awards and honors she has received include: Best Hip Hop Dancer and lettered in dance four times and soccer one time. After high school, Mason plans to join the Airforce, attend University of Missouri to become a RN Nurse. After retiring from the Airforce, she plans to work at Boone County Hospital.
Cotton, daughter of Wade and Wendy Phillips, is active or has been active in junior varsity and varsity volleyball and has held the position of junior varsity captain; Central Missouri Volleyball Club; varsity track; FCA; FCCLA; and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. In the community, she has been involved in shoreline clean-up, is a member of North Shore Baptist church and participates in the annual Thanksgiving food drive, and volunteer work at the Dogwood Animal Shelter. Awards and honors she has received include: qualified for state in the 800 and won regionals with her traveling club volleyball team. After high school, Cotton plans to attend Florida State, earn a PHD and then become a successful child psychologist.
Davidson, daughter of Cody and Conda Davidson, is active or has been active in softball; cross country; basketball; track; NJHS; Builders Club; Girls Glee; FCA and has held the position of FCA Leader; and Tribe. In the community, she is a member of Mount Carmal Baptist Church. Awards and honors she has received include: various medals for cross country and track, Glory of Missouri Award and choir achievement awards. After high school, Davidson plans to attend college.
The court candidates will be presented in the Homecoming parade that begins at 4:30 p.m. on the Bagnell Dam Strip in Lake Ozark prior to the game.
OHS Homecoming Spirit Week
Osage High School is gearing up for its annual Homecoming game with a week of spirit days and special activities.
Spirit Week runs Sept. 26-30, which involves dress-up participation during the school day with each day of the week having a different theme for students and staff to follow. Students who dress up will earn spirit points for their class.
Here’s a full lineup of the week’s events:
Monday: ESPN College Game Day
Show your pride for your favorite college by sporting your collegiate wear.
Requirements: Wear at least one item that shows what college you support.
Tuesday: Cartoon Network Day
Dress as a character from a kid’s TV show.
Requirements: Wear at least two items that portray the TV character you represent.
Wednesday: Blast from the Past Day
Freshmen: I Love Lucy
Sophomores: Beverly Hillbillies
Juniors: Miami Vice
Seniors: That ‘70s Show
Requirements: Wear at least two items that show you are dressed up as a character of the TV show that your class has been given or dress in the time period in which the TV show was made.
Thursday: Minute to Win it Day
Get yourself ready to compete in Minute to Win It challenges at contact time to help your class earn points toward the spirit spear. Wear sportswear that is appropriate for school—T-shirts, sweats, tennis shoes, sweatbands, headbands, and warpaint.
Requirements: Wear two or more sportswear items that show you are ready for the challenge.
Friday: Friday Nights Lights Day
Sport your school colors and show your school spirit.
Requirements: At least 50 percent of you should be covered in maroon and white.
